Author Ned Vizzini Has Died

nedvizziniThirty-two year old author Ned Vizzini has died. According to a report in The Los Angeles Times, the author committed suicide in New York.

Vizinni was the author of three books: It’s Kind of a Funny StoryThe Other Normals,Be More Chill, and Teen Angst? Naaah., and the co-author of the book House of Secrets. He also wrote for MTV’s Teen Wolf and NBC’sBelieve. In addition, his essays have appeared in The New York Times, Daily Beast, and The New Yorker.

Vizzini was a successful young adult author who had found a place in Hollywood. He published his first book, “It’s Kind of a Funny Story,” in 2006. The semi-autobiographical story about an ambitious high school student whose suicide attempt lands him in a mental hospital was made into the 2010 film featuring Zach Galifianakis.
