‘Auntie Claus’ Stop-Motion Film On Kickstarter

By Maryann Yin

Athena Studios hopes to raise $38,000 on Kickstarter for a film project.

The team will use the funds to develop a pitch package and a stop-motion movie trailer based on a the Auntie Claus picture book. Elise Primavera published the Christmas-themed  kid’s book back in 1999. We’ve embedded a video about the project above. Here’s more about the project:

“Most of our filmmakers grew up with the Rankin/Bass holiday TV specials like Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman. They vividly remember a time when stop-motion was associated with the Christmas season and brighter more cheerful stories. Auntie Claus recalls that fond legacy, while building on the pioneering techniques of the modern stop-motion classics.”
