Asus Plans $164 E-Reader

asus.jpgIs $164 a low enough price to make the public embrace another digital reader? The electronics company Asus hopes so.

paidContent.org has the scoop, speculating on the new device: “Features may include two side-by-side full color screens (so that users can look at two pages at once or browse the web while reading a book), speakers, a mic, and a webcam. A budget version will sell for around 100 pounds ($164).”

As GalleyCat reported last week, a new study estimates that e-readers should be priced below $150 to gain a larger readership. This and other questions will be pondered at mediabistro.com’s upcoming eBook Summit which runs from December 15-16. More details on this event are coming soon…
