Arnold Schwarzenegger Opens Up about His New Book

By Dianna Dilworth

“Some information I just keep to myself,” said Arnold Schwarzenegger, in an interview with Lesley Stahl on 60 Minutes interview last night.

The former governor and actor did the interview to promote his new book, Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Story, a memoir from Simon & Schuster that came out today.

In the interview, Schwarznegger talked about his scandal of having had an affair with his housekeeper Mildred Baena and getting her pregnant, at the time that his wife Maria Shriver was pregnant. “I found out about it kind of seven year or eight years in,” he to Stahl. He said that it didn’t occur to him that the child was his, because she was with another man.

“I have caused enough pain to everyone as it is, if it is my to my, so I don’t want to reawaken and talk about it because its not going to help them and I just want to protect them as much as I can,” said Schwarzenegger to Stahl.

But Stahl pushed Schwarzenegger on the issue, asking if he had paid off the maid. Quoting from the book, she read, “I wanted Mildred to continue working in our home because I thought I could control the situation better that way,” which he explained was not about controlling her, but rather that “it would be the wrong thing to do to let her go.” (Via The Washington Post).
