Apple Sued Over E-Reader Apps

phone.jpgSwitzerland’s MONEC Holding has sued Apple in Virginia district court over the iPhone’s digital reading applications. The communications company alleged that Apple infringed on a patent the company held for a mobile e-reader.

The suit doesn’t specify which e-reader applications violate the patent, but AppleInsider notes the suit came weeks after Amazon released a digital reader app for the iPhone, competing against the popular Stanza e-reader.

Here’s more from the article: “[The patent] describes a ‘light-weight’ electronic device with a “touch-screen” LCD-display’ … The Swiss firm maintains that Apple is ‘well aware’ of its patent and claims the ongoing infringement has caused injury to its property and business in an amount to be determined as damages at trial. It’s also seeking attorney’s fees and an injunction to preventing Apple from further infringement.” (Via jafurtado)
