Around midnight last night, eBookNewser shared news of a new edition of the Kindle DX. The graphite Kindle DX has a new e-ink display with “50% better contrast.”

The large-screen Kindle retails for $379, a significant price cut from the Kindle DX’s original price of $489. According to the release, one battery charge will last up to one week–even with wireless on. Without wireless, it lasts two weeks. The new device will hold “up to 3,500 books, periodicals, and documents.”

Here’s more from the post: “The DX comes with a 9.7-inch large screen and a 3G wireless connection. The new model comes with a graphite enclosure and a new, high contrast electronic ink display. Amazon is making big claims that the new display has much better contrast than the previous model. They are available for preorder at the Kindle store. The devices ship July 7th.”
