Amazon to Feature Kindle Apps; Opens Door to Developers

kindle_today23.pngAmazon (AMZN) rocked the publishing world with its second bombshell in two days, announcing that it will open the Kindle platform so developers can build apps for the popular eReader–perhaps preparing for an eReader war with Apple (AAPL) and the fabled Apple Tablet.

Now this could indeed be a game changer, or at least a way for eReaders to maintain their hold after the tidal wave of tablets hits. Amazon has just announced that it is opening the Kindle platform to App developers. Amazon says it will have apps available in the Kindle store later this year.
