Amazon Releases New Fire Tablet

kindlefire8Amazon has revealed the latest edition in its tablet series: the Fire HD 8.

The 8″ widescreen HD device has a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and 1.5 GB of RAM, both features which are designed to make the device run faster than previous models. This year’s model also boasts improved battery life and supports up to 200 GB of additional storage through a microSD card. As with previous devices, the Firs HD 8 has a front-facing camera to facilitate video chat as well as photo taking that includes free, unlimited cloud storage for all photos taken on Fire devices.

The $89.99 tablet is the launch device with Amazon’s new Alexa service, Amazon’s answer to Siri. The cloud-based voice service lets users ask Alexa to play a song or open a game or read an audiobook.

The device comes in four color options: black, magenta, blue, and tangerine. It starts shipping September 21.
