A high-ranking member of the GalleyCat Army (it’s like the KISS Army, except with longer, scratchier tongues) inspects the contents of a recently received package: one of approximately 1,000 towels Vintage had made to remind us that one of last summer’s big thrillers, The Ruins, will be coming out in paperback soon. “Between the Stephen King quote, the suspense in spades and the exotic setting of the novel, we hope to see thousands of people reading The Ruins on beach this summer,” said Vintage publicist Sloane Crosley when I called for details about the campaign, “and this way they’ll have something to rest on while they turn the pages.”

Sure, the actual release date is months away, but you know how we’re always openly whoring ourselves for swag, and this’ll come in very handy after my morning run. Which reminds me: I could use some new T-shirts…
