As per an announcement on T.C. Boyle‘s website, his short story “Balto,” currently featured in The Paris Review, will be included in the next Best American Short Stories. So that gives us all something to track down and read this weekend; I mean, come on, even if it weren’t in the anthology, if one of America’s best contemporary short story writers is going to explore the legend of Balto, you want to check that out.
We’ve also heard an unconfirmed (so far) rumor about a story from Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine being picked. If we pin that down, we’ll let you know! (UPDATE: Yep, “The Boy in Zaquitos” by Bruce McAllister has indeed made the grade.)
