11965371Mary Badham, the actress who starred as Scout in Robert Mulligan’s 1962 film adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird, is among those readers looking forward to the release of Harper Lee’s Go Set a Watchman.

In an interview with Katie Couric on Yahoo News, Badham said that she was excited. “I had always hoped there would be another book of some sort that she had written, because writers can’t just write one book, and she was extraordinary,” she told Couric. “So I was thrilled.”

Go Set a Watchman, released today, features many of the characters from To Kill a Mockingbird 20 later. In the novel, Scout returns to Maycomb to visit her father, and highlights her struggles with personal and political issues in her small Alabama town.
