5 Upcoming Literary Adaptations

Thanksgiving isn’t the only thing to look forward to this fall–Hollywood has lots of new literary movies scheduled. Here is a round-up of five upcoming literary movies.

1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 will show chapters 1-24 of the original J.K. Rowling book on November 19th.

2. Tangled is based on the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale, Rapunzel. It arrives in theaters on November 24th. The trailer is embedded above.

3. The Tempest adapts William Shakespeare’s famous play. Prospero (the male lead) has been changed to a female Prospera, and will be played by Helen Mirren. The movie comes out on December 10th.

4. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the third installment in this franchise based on of C.S. Lewis’ classic series. The two youngest Pevensie children Edmund and Lucy star in this story. The movie comes out on December 10th.

5. Gulliver’s Travels adapts Jonathan Swift’s classic.  Jack Black stars as Lemuel Gulliver and Catherine Tate as Queen of Lilliput. The movie hits the theaters on December 22nd.
