24-Year-Old Marketing Director Lands Major Book Deal

By Jason Boog

24-year-old online marketing guru Ryan Holiday has landed a book deal with Portfolio.

The book has the tentative title Confessions of a Media Hit Man, and promises to offer “an expose of modern news media and a primer on the dark arts and individuals that control it, with detailed and shocking revelations.” Holiday is the director of marketing at American Apparel and has written numerous popular articles about online marketing.

Here’s more about the author: “Holiday is media manipulator for notorious clients like Tucker Max and Dov Charney. After dropping out of college at 19, he went on to advise many bestselling authors and multi-platinum musicians … His strategies are used as case studies by Twitter, YouTube and Google and have been written about in AdAge, the New York Times, Gawker and Fast Company.”

Correction: An earlier version of this story erroneously reported the size of Holiday’s advance.
