2013 Library Lions Unveiled

nyplThe New York Public Library has revealed the 2013 Library Lions.

The five honorees include New York City mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Katherine Boo, MacArthur Genius Junot Diaz, and noted essayist Marilynn Robinson. Tony Award-winning composer Stephen Sondheim. The Library Lions Gala for this year’s honorees will be held on November 4, 2013.

The Library Lions is an honor bestowed yearly by the NYPL. The honorees are people who have made significant cultural and educational contributions in an effort to further the public’s understanding about the world. Past honorees include Oscar-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese, beloevd novelist Elie Wiesel, and media mogul Oprah Winfrey.
