’12 Years a Slave’ Nominated for 9 Academy Awards

12 Years a Slave, a film adaptation directed by Steve McQueen, has earned nine academy Academy Award nominations. Thor actor Chris Hemsworth joined Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences president Cheryl Boone Isaacs to make the announcement this morning.

The movie, based on Solomon Northup’s 1853 memoir, stars British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor in the lead role. We’ve embedded the trailer above–what did you think of the film?
