WSJ Readership Is Up 20% Under Murdoch's Reign
It looks like The Wall Street Journal‘s three-year move downmarket, which started shortly after Rupert Murdoch‘s News Corp. took over, hasn’t hurt the paper’s business. A new study by research firm The Media Audit indicates that readership of The Wall Street Journal has risen 20% to 4.3 million since Murdoch scooped up Journal parent Dow Jones & Co. for $5 billion in 2007.
Says The Media Audit:
The latest results indicate that despite a downward trend in circulation for most major daily newspapers, The Wall Street Journal has managed to draw new readers with its shift in editorial coverage and a new look to the front page that is intended to take on rivals such as The New York Times.
