WJLA Anchor Doug McElway Fired After Suspension

Washington D.C.’s WJLA-TV has fired anchorman Doug McElway for insubordination and misconduct, the Post reports.
McElway was placed on indefinite suspension in late July after a verbal confrontation with the station’s general manager. This week, the station turned the suspension to a firing.

McElway ran into trouble in July when covering a protest by environmental groups who wanted to end oil industry contributions to Congress. In his report, he said the event attracted protesters “largely representing far-left environmental groups.”
