The National Association of Broadcasters has been handing out trophies since 1987 for radio stations with outstanding commitment to community service. Among the 50 nationalwide finalists are WBLS and WQHT/Hot 97.
Skip Dillard, WBLS operations manager says just being a finalist is a very pleasant surprise.
“This is a hard one to get nominated for, much less win so we’re excited about the possibility of taking one home!” Dillard tells FishbowlNY. “There’s still something to be said with being nominated by your industry peers! This would be our first Crystal Award, so it’s one we really have our fingers crossed on!”
Alex Cameron, SVP/general manager at WQHT, states, “We are honored to receive a nomination for the Crystal Awards, and would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the NAB for considering us. At Hot 97 and Emmis, we are committed to serving the community by being part of it – in good times and especially during challenging times. We seek to uplift and assist during times of crisis and otherwise regularly incite positive change. This responsibility is one we at HOT 97 take to heart and that Emmis as a company has invested in with our Incite Division. We are extremely excited and proud to be among the nominees and look forward to the award announcements in April!”
Winners will be announced at the annual NAB Show in Las Vegas on April 9.
