Racked Adds Feature Writer, Photographer

While the acquisition of the Curbed sites by Vox Media has received the lion's share of media attention, there is also a lot going on at Racked, the fashion network that along with Eater was also part of the deal. Racked encompasses a national site and regional verticals for New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Chicago, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The national site, run out of an office in the East Village alongside the group that operates the New York vertical, is adding Chavie Lieber (pictured) as its first full-time feature writer. Photographer Driely Vieira meanwhile is being bumped up at the beginning of next month to Racked full-time status. She will contribute to both the New York and national sites. Racked founder, national editor Leslie Price, who launched the site in 2007, is excited about these and other forthcoming changes. She is based out of Miami, where she returned this summer after helping oversee and grow the west coast end of Racked. "When I got to South Beach in August, the idea at the Curbed network was to expand Racked staff," Price tells FishbowlNY via telephone. "These moves were in progress before the Vox deal." The other Racked NY staffers are editor Tiffany Yannetta and associate editor Nicola Fumo. Intriguingly, former Racked NY intern Laura Gurfein is now interning for Elle but, while finishing up a final semester of grad school, has also been promoted at Racked NY to regular freelance contributor. She writes three features a week. Price has begun traveling up the coast to New York. She isn't quite sure if she wants or needs to relocate, and notes that Vox also has offices in D.C, which could present an interesting and closer divided-time opportunity. Bottom line: These are exciting times at Racked. With Vox on board, it seems only a matter of runway time before Racked adds additional verticals in places like Dallas, Atlanta and Miami. There is a separate staff in the same East Village HQ that oversees the national Racked site. That group includes national associate editor Kenzie Bryant and editorial director Izzy Grinspan, who oversees Racked National and all regional sites. Update (2:25 p.m.): Racked has just announced a very impressive additional contributor - former Lucky magazine founder and EIC Kim France: When she parted ways with the magazine in 2010, France took up blogging. Her site, Girls of a Certain Age, focuses on a favored subject matter, shopping.
