Village Voice Staffers Set to Strike, Launch Alternative Site
Staffers for The Village Voice are on the verge of staging a massive strike if their contract is not re-negotiated by midnight, June 30th. According to a union press release, Voice employees are upset about continued staff cuts, decreasing salaries and a health plan that has dropped benefits, while asking workers to contribute more money.
If the strike goes through, the staffers plan on publishing content on a Tumblr, The Real Voice. Who knows exactly how that will help anyone, but hey, good for them for keeping publishing going without the help of the paper.
