Two New Hires at <em>Real Simple</em>

Real Simple, the Time Inc. magazine devoted to making everyday life easier, today announced it had hired Didi Gluck as beauty and health director and Abbey Kuster-Prokell as art director. Gluck most recently worked at Shape, where she was deputy editor and executive beauty director. She replaces Elizabeth Graves, who recently left Real Simple for her familiar stomping grounds at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. She starts June 28. Kuster-Prokell, meanwhile, comes from MSLO, where she was deputy design director since 2004. Press release after the jump. (New York, NY) - June 10, 2010 - Real Simple today announced the appointment of Didi Gluck to Beauty and Health Director and Abbey Kuster-Prokell to Art Director. The announcement was made by Real Simple Managing Editor, Kristin van Ogtrop. Gluck will oversee all beauty and health content across the brand, and will report to Real Simple Executive Editor, Sarah Humphreys. Replacing former Beauty and Health Director Elizabeth Graves, Gluck will begin on June 28, 2010. Kuster-Prokell will begin on July 6, 2010 and will report to Real Simple Design Director, Cybele Grandjean. Kuster-Prokell will provide a leadership role in the art direction of photo shoots and the design direction of the magazine. Most recently, Gluck served as Deputy Editor/Executive Beauty Director of Shape, where she top-edited the Beauty and Shape Your Life sections, a well as features. Prior, she was the Beauty Director at Marie Claire, and oversaw the 20-page beauty section while also spearheading the magazine's special issues. As Beauty Director of Redbook, she produced the multi-page beauty section and wrote front-of-book fashion features. Gluck also served as Beauty Editor of Mode, Associate Beauty Editor of YM, Assistant Beauty Editor of Good Housekeeping, and Assistant Fashion & Beauty Editor at Ladies' Home Journal. Throughout her career, she has appeared on national broadcast outlets as a brand steward. Gluck earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts and received a Master of Science in Journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She currently resides in Manhattan. Kuster-Prokell was most recently the Deputy Design Director at Martha Stewart Living, a position she held since 2004. During her tenure, the magazine received an ASME National Magazine Award for Print Design in 2009. Previously, she was the Assistant Manager, Art Director at Tiffany & Co., Junior Designer at Louise Fili Ltd., and began her career at Pentagram. The recipient of numerous awards from the Society of Publication Designers, Kuster-Prokell earned a Bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University. She currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
