TV Stations Ready for Election Night Coverage

We continue our look at the election night coverage, with check on how the area TV station's news departments are gearing up for their big night. WCBS/Channel 2 Updates throughout the day during regular newscasts. CBS 2 News at 11 p.m. will be extended to an hour broadcast. Updated cut-ins through out primetime. CBS News led by Katie Couric will do an election one hour special broadcast at 10 p.m. WNBC/Channel 4 Coverage will focus on mainly the races for the New York Governor and Connecticut senate. The will provide cut-ins on the main channel during primetime. NY Nonstop will be live from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. A look at the other stations after the jump WNYW/Channel 5 FOX 5 anchors Ernie Anastos and Dari Alexander will be live at 10 p.m., with reports from major candidate headquarters including Cuomo, Paladino, McMahon, and Blumenthal. There will also be live cut-ins from sister station WWOR, focusing on key races in New Jersey. FOX 5 reporter Dick Brennan will host a live Web show from 8 to 10 p.m., featuring election results and exit polls, as well as special guests. WABC/Channel 7 They begin with special reports throughout the evening as election results begin to come in and polls close. Bill Ritter and Liz Cho will anchor, while Diana Williams and Sade Baderinwa break down the numbers. A dozen reporters from the Eyewitness News team will be on the scene throughout the tri-state as the night unfolds. Williams anchors exclusive, expanded coverage on 7online.com. At 11:00 p.m., Eyewitness News returns with more local coverage, victory and concession speeches and results. WWOR/Channel 9 My9 News special coverage of Election 2010 will be expanded to a full hour, from 11 p.m. until midnight. Anchors Brenda Blackmon and Harry Martin will be in the My9 Election Center, with live reports from candidates' headquarters in the three Congressional races (the 3rd, the 6th and the 12th Congressional Districts) in New Jersey. Reporters will also provide on-scene updates from the campaign headquarters of the New York Governor candidates and the U.S. Senate race in Connecticut. In addition to the major races, My9 will offer up to the minute results from New Jersey and New York with a constant scrolling at the bottom of the screen and on their website http://www.my9tv.com/ NY1 The Time Warner Cable channel goes into election mode starting with a special election night preview edition of Inside City Hall at 7 p.m. Then at 8 p.m., they start live wall-to-wall statewide coverage anchored by Roma Torre. Elizabeth Kaledin will host a roundtable of experts throughout the evening. NY1 reporters will be positioned at the major campaign headquarters, including those for Cuomo and Paladino; DiNapoli and Wilson; and Schneiderman and Donovan. In addition, Vivian Lee will report on exit polls; Erin Billups will report on the race for control of New York State Senate; and Kristen Shaughnessy will report on the race for control of the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives. The channel will give viewers hourly statewide coverage of reports on New York City races for Congress and the State Legislature with Lewis Dodley at the anchor’s desk and the station will run its election ticker with all the latest results.
