Trading Places: A Journalist And PR Pro Switch Jobs

It’s like Freaky Friday all over again: recently, PRWeek sent a features editor to a PR agency in exchange for an account executive. They did each other’s jobs for a week and learned all sorts of warm&fuzzy things, like about not judging each other before you’ve walked a mile in their moccasins and so forth. And about not treating PR pros as “the enemy” or respecting journalists’ time because they are way too busy to listen to you.

PRWeek deputy features editor Kate Magee had to compile briefing documents on other journos (“and found it weird to think that PROs may have done the same for me”), pitch news outlets, and write press releases.
