TMZ Rakes It In, And Is Hiring

Wow. We knew celebrity news was profitable but didn’t realize that TMZ.com brought in over $25 million last year.

Time Warner, which takes full control of TMZ.com today (the property isn’t traveling with Aol as Aol spins off today), wants to “wring more advertising revenue” out of the celebrity gossip site, according to the LA Times, and beef up the news side of the organization. (We noted back in September that the site was hiring, actually.)
