Hoping to grab as much revenue from consumers as possible, Time Inc. is preparing to launch a new subscription model for its magazines. Adweek reports that the system will debut with People because it’s the publishing house’s cash cow.
As for what the new subscriptions will include, well, the details are about as vague as they get. Adweek only noted that Time Inc. is dedicated to making the offers attractive to readers:
People, whose plan has been in the works for a couple of years, has been looking at benefits such as new products and exclusive access to content and communities that might keep consumers renewing their subscriptions or entice them to pay more.
It’s not surprising that Time Inc. is exploring this option. The company is about to spinoff from Time Warner, and Joe Ripp — Time Inc.’s new CEO — has made it clear he’s going to shake things up.
