The Villager, Gay City News, Among Papers Sold
Community Media LLC, the parent company of The Villager, Gay City News, Downtown Express, East Villager and Chelsea Now has been sold. The buyer, according to The Villager, is Jennifer Goodstein, a former MetLife executive. She is also the wife of Les Goodstein, a senior vice president at News Corporation.
Goodstein purchased the company from John Sutter, who owned the newspapers since 1999. Sutter will stay on as publisher emeritus.
Anyone worried that Goodstein’s purchase signals the beginning of the end for the weeklies can relax.
