The New York Times Putting More Focus on East Village

The New York Times, in conjunction with New York University’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, is launching a news site to cover the East Village.

Beginning September 13, The Local East Village will join The Times’ network of community websites. However, this marks the first time that one of their sites is devoted exclusively to reporting on a Manhattan neighborhood.

The Local East Village gives us another opportunity to explore ways to provide quality online journalism to communities here and across the country,” said Mary Ann Giordano, a deputy Metro editor at The New York Times.
