The New York Observer Hires News Editor
The New York Observer has hired Megan McCarthy to be its News Editor. McCarthy was most recently the founder of Mediagazer, a media story aggregator. Mediagazer is a spinoff of Techmeme, which does the same task for tech stories.
Elizabeth Spiers said of the hire, “Megan has a great eye for a story and I look forward to seeing her talents contribute to making an Observer that’s faster and more agile.”
McCarthy echoed the sentiment. “I’m looking forward to helping to create a vibrant news product with The Observer’s legendary voice and intelligence,” she said.
