Ray Bradbury, the amazing writer who died today, once had a short story titled “Bright Phoenix” rejected by both The Atlantic and Harper’s Bazaar. No big deal, right? Happens all the time.
Well, as The Atlantic’s Tumblr notes, that story served as the blueprint for Bradbury’s most critically-acclaimed work, Fahrenheit 451.
