The Times has made some major shakeups over at the foreign desk. We already reported on John Burns‘ return to the States. Meanwhile:

  • Ethan Bronner is being made Jerusalem bureau chief. Replacements are being auditioned for his old position of deputy foreign editor.

  • Barry Bearack and Celia Dugger are now covering South Africa. Bearack was previously at the Times Magazine and Dugger reported on the global poverty beat.

  • Steve Erlanger is the new Paris bureau chief.
