Temp Workers Are Depressed, Stressed

If you’ve been thinking of picking up some temp work, bear this in mind: Workers hired for temporary or contract work face a higher risk of developing mental health problems such as depression, according to the research authored by a medical sociologist at McGill University, Workforce reports.

“Temporary workers-those lacking long-term, stable employment-seem to be susceptible to declining mental health for as long as they continue to work in these so-called ‘disposable’ or ‘second class’ jobs,” said Amélie Quesnel-Vallée, the study’s primary investigator.
