TechMedia Network Lines Up Tom’s Brand Editors

TechMediaNetworkLogoEarlier this summer, NYC-based TechMedia Network (TMN) acquired Bestofmedia Group. The addition of the Tom’s brand of Web destinations (Tom’s Hardware U.S., Tom’s Guide U.S., Tom’s IT Pro U.S.) helped push TMN, home of and, to a comScore metered reach of 72 million international monthly readers.

Today, the company announced a pair of related EIC moves. Fritz Nelson has been brought in to oversee Tom’s Hardware U.S. and Tom’s IT Pro U.S., while Mark Spoonauer will add Tom’s Guide U.S. to his other current editorial duties. From today’s announcement:

Nelson joins TechMedia Network with over two decades of editorial leadership in business technology media. Previously, he served as senior vice president and editorial director of the InformationWeek Business Technology Network at UBM Tech, managing 12 media properties—including InformationWeek and Dark Reading.

Spoonauer, as current editor-in-chief of — a post which he will hold concurrently with Tom’s Guide U.S. — is recognized as one of the foremost authorities on mobile and wireless technology, leading successful editorial teams across TechMedia Network’s growing roster of technology-focused web properties.

Nelson and Spoonauer are both working to integrate the company’s TopTenReviews e-commerce engine into the Tom’s sites. TechMedia Network also has offices in Utah, California and France.
