Target Rising Stars for Rolling Stone's Country Vertical

Are you a writer gone country? Step right up.

Unlike many music trends that come and go (hair bands, grunge rock, emo, to name a few), country music is one genre that remains as much a force today as it was during its bluesy inception in the 1920s. Sure, the styles have changed throughout the years, but the songs of down-home sensibilities and straight-shooting stories of working-class Americans are here to stay. Country music’s dominance was so evident that Rolling Stone decided it was high time to devote a large portion of its site to covering it.

Launched in 2014, RS Country is “really just a way to spotlight country music beyond what’s on top-40 radio,” says senior editor Beville Dunkerley.
