Fayetteville Green Lake, near Syracuse, is the first lake to be identified in North America as meromictic. For those still hoping for a dictionary as stocking stuffer, that means the lake has layers of water that do not mix.

A big, merry season shout-out to Jersey Paddle Boards, the Green Lake business that organized the Santa flotilla earlier this month, on a 65-degree December day.
