Spencer Ackerman is joining the Guardian US as its national security editor. Ackerman was most recently with Wired as a senior writer. During his time there he anchored the Danger Room blog. Ackerman tweeted that he was “excited and honored” to be joining the Guardian’s team.
In a statement, the Guardian US’s editor-in-chief, Janine Gibson, said, “Spencer is a must-read reporter with extraordinary knowledge of his patch. His passion and determination to break stories chimes perfectly with the Guardian’s long-held commitment to accountability and transparency. We’re all excited that he has decided to join our growing US team.”
Ackerman’s first day is June 2.
