The New York Times has named Sopan Deb a general news reporter for its culture team.
Deb joins the Times from CBS News, where he served as an associate producer. He previously worked for NBC News, Al Jazeera and The Boston Globe.
“We’re thrilled that Sopan is coming to The Times to cover a spectrum of news—cultural, political, race/gender/class, way-we-live-now—through arts and entertainment lenses in the Trump era,” wrote Times culture editor Danielle Mattoon, in a memo to staffers.
