Social Media Jobs Are All Over, But They Don't Pay So Great

According to Social Media Influence, the demand for social media “gurus” (not their word) is skyrocketing: the number of social media job postings on Indeed.com has increased by 600 percent in the past five years.

Yet social media salaries, while nothing to sneeze at, lag behind their counterparts in traditional PR, marketing, and publishing, by as much as $5,000 to $10,000, the report (a free download with registration) says.

If you still want to pursue a job in social media, the report says that positions are shaping up to be “a digital native mix of IT, PR, customer service and marketing and sales” and that salaries are quickly catching up to their traditional counterparts’.
