NFL Watcher Says Twitter Has Quieted Press Box

In honor of Social Media Day, the LA Times checked in with some of its staffers to find out how social media (read: Twitter) has impacted their reporting ways.

Among the most active and interesting Q&A respondents was Sam Farmer (@LATimesfarmer), who covers the NFL. He makes an intriguing observation about a Twitter effect that we had never considered, sort of the opposite of what you might expect:

Another answer that caught our eye, but for completely different reasons, is art critic Christopher Knight’s reply to the query of whether his use of social media has changed in the last year. His three-character answer: “No.” The appearance of this info on the LA Times internal poll results page would seem to indicate that a lot of the paper’s other reporters were too busy today on Twitter to participate.
