Slate Names Matt Turck Publisher

Slate, the online magazine from The Washington Post Company, has named Matt Turck its new publisher. Turck has been Slate’s vice president of sales and marketing since 2009.

Turck will succeed John Alderman, who has been named COO of SocialCode, another venture owned by The Washington Post.

“Alderman and Turck are two of the best in the business,” said Jacob Weisberg, chairman and editor-in-chief of the Slate Group. “While I’m saddened by John’s departure from Slate, I’m thrilled to welcome Matt to the helm and eagerly anticipating a continuation of the innovative thinking he’s brought to Slate around advertising and marketing.”

Turck’s appointment is effective September 10.
