September Saw Nearly 40,000 More Lost Jobs, ADP Says

Private sector employment fell in September by 39,000, confirming a “pause in the economic recovery,” according to the latest ADP Employment Report released today.

“There simply is no momentum in employment,” the ADP report reads.

Employment fell at large, medium, and small businesses, with businesses employing 500 or more workers faring slightly better, losing just 11,000 jobs to medium and small’s 14,000 each.

The ADP report tracks only private-sector hiring, not government hiring, and so doesn’t include the effects of the hiring and firing of U.S.
