<i>Self</i> Hires Digital Director

This week being the first week of the New Year, the hiring news sets the stage for things to come. And so far this year, we've seen publications' Web sites Newsweek.com and RealSimple.com create new positions to head up their digital efforts. Could this be a trend for 2010? Today, we have news of yet another digital appointment: Self has named Kristen Schultz Dollard digital director of the magazine, where she'll oversee the Self.com team and any integrated digital and online editorial partnerships and promotions. Dollard joins the Condé Nast fitness title from Rodale, where she served as digital editorial director for Rodale International. She has previously works as the editor of iyogalife.com and YogaLife magazine, and helped launch Womens' Health magazine. She's also a certified yoga instructor and co-authored the upcoming book The Yoga Body Diet. Full release after the jump SELF MAGAZINE NAMES KRISTEN SCHULTZ DOLLARD AS DIGITAL DIRECTOR Kristen Schultz Dollard has been named Digital Director for SELF, SELF Editor-in-Chief Lucy Danziger announced today. Ms. Dollard will be responsible for overseeing the Self.com Web team and for expanding SELF's roster of integrated digital and online editorial partnerships and promotions. She will join SELF beginning January 11, 2010. "Kristen's talents are a perfect fit for enhancing SELF's capabilities in all digital arenas," Ms. Danziger says. "At a time when Self.com's Web presence continues its tremendous and sustained growth -- we're up 45 percent year over year for 2009 monthly average traffic -- Kristen's creative mind and technical expertise dovetail perfectly with the current directions of SELF's integrated multimedia expansion: building digital magazines, mobile apps, social networking, content syndication and much more. I'm thrilled Kristen will be joining our team of tech-savvy editors to extend our brand at this exciting time." Ms. Dollard comes to SELF from Rodale, where most recently she was Digital Editorial Director for Rodale International. Before that, she was the Editor of iyogalife.com and special interest publication YogaLife Magazine. Prior to that she was on the launch team of Women's Health magazine and in her role on the New Product Development team worked on Rodale's special-interest publications and bookazines. Prior to that, she was a booker/writer/affiliate promotions producer for ABC News's Good Morning America and a producer for Rainbow Media's MagRack, Cablevision's Video On Demand programming. She has also had editorial and production roles at New York magazine and HBO. Ms. Dollard has a bachelor's degree in journalism and women's studies from New York University. She is a registered yoga instructor and coauthor of The Yoga Body Diet, to be published by Rodale in April 2010.
