Russell Simmons: Bleep 'Bitch,' 'Ho,' And 'N*gger'

Last week, FishbowlNY told you that Russell Simmons and dozens of other record industry executives and hip-hop moguls were meeting to discuss the Don Imus controversy, promising a consensus, something that quickly became impossible to achieve in the timeframe of the meeting.

Today, Simmons’ Hip-Hop Summit Action Network recommended “that the recording and broadcast industries voluntarily remove/bleep/delete the misogynistic words “bitch” and “ho” and the racially offensive word ‘n*gger.'”

Simmons stopped short of an full-on ban, citing First Amendment concerns, but said “with freedom of expression, however, comes responsibility.”
