Rumor: Further Furloughs At Gannett?
An anonymous commenter at Gannett Blog (which is usually a reliable font of anonymously-sourced information) posts a memo announcing furloughs at Gannett’s US Community Publishing group.
The USCP group includes Gannett’s 80 daily newspapers but not USA TODAY.
Non-union salaried employees must take one unpaid week of vacation by March 27. Non-union hourly employees must take five days, too, though they can be spread out.
The furloughs, says USCP president Bob Dickey in the memo, were “quite frankly, an option I had hoped we could avoid.
