Reynolds Business Journalism Center Offers Financial Fellowship Worth $1,500

Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism fellowship, worth $1,500 for a three day course of intensive study in financials and corporate activities from Jan. 5 to 7, 2015 in Phoenix, Ariz. The eighth annual Strictly Financials Seminar takes place during Reynolds Business Journalism Week at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The fellowship is limited to 12 professional U.S. journalists with at least two years of business journalism experience. Consideration will also be given to those recently assigned to beats covering financial topics. Fellowships include full cost of training, lodging, materials and most meals. Fellows only need cover transportation costs. The seminar will focus on the fundamentals of covering financials, from financial statements and company research to understanding the structure of new ventures. “Spending a week digging into balance sheets and accounting should provide a real boost to every journalist’s expertise,” said Andrew Leckey, president of the Reynolds Center. Mary Judd, a 2012 Strictly Financials fellow and reporter at the Fulton County Daily Report, said, “Thank you! I wish I’d had this experience 27 years ago when I began my career.
