Revamped SmartMoney Debuts

The new version of SmartMoney launched today with hopes that its updated format will lead to increased advertising and readership. The monthly magazine, which is owned by the Wall Street Journal, is now broken into four sections – Invest, Pick, Plan, Spend – designed to give advertisers a more specific way to target readers. President Andrew Seibert claims that people are dedicating more time to reading SmartMoney than ever before, so the four new categories reflect a focus on longer features as well.

Also included in the reboot is a new recurring section called Play Money, which highlights investing in things that people enjoy, like art, fine foods, and magazines that are trying anything possible to avoid folding.
