Reuters’ Afghantisan-Pakistan bureau chief Maria Golovnina has died. She was 34 years old.
The news agency reported that Golovnina was found unconscious in the bathroom of Reuters’ Islamabad bureau. An ambulance rushed Golovnina to Kulsum International Hospital, but the medical teams were unable to save her.
Golovnina joined Reuters in 2001. She has worked in London, Singapore, Moscow, Afghanistan and Iraq. Golovnina was named Afghanistan-Pakistan bureau chief in 2013.
