National Journal hands its top editing job to Stephen G. Smith. He has been editor of The Washington Examiner, U.S. News & World Report, Time and Newsweek and served as editor at National Journal between 1996 and 1998 when, of course, the magazine was a print product. He returns to steer the new digital ship into the future.
