RD Recap: Cuts Come to The Boston Globe; Changes at AP

The latest media hirings and firings.

The Boston Globe becomes the latest major American newspaper to go through layoffs, with at least 10 staffers reportedly saying goodbye. Another dozen or so will take voluntary buyouts as the publication seeks to cut costs and focus on the digital space. (Where have we heard that before? Oh right, everywhere.) It’s the second year in a row that reductions have come and it’s part of a larger effort to simplify the copy desk and web production.
