<i>Prevention</i> Launches Column With <i>The Doctors</i>

Rodale's Prevention magazine is taking its partnership with health talk show The Doctors one step further. The magazine's March issue, on newsstands this week, features the first installment of a monthly column featuring The Doctors' experts: E.R. physician Dr. Travis Stork, OB/GYN Lisa Masterson, plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Drew Ordon and pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears. The column, called "Ask the Doctors," will feature answers to real readers' questions, as well as tips on how to "Live Like a Doc!" Prevention and The Doctors launched a partnership in September, which included several guest appearances on the show for the magazine's editor-in-chief, Liz Vaccariello, as well as a promotional program. Last month, the pair launched a search for one person's inspirational story about adopting a healthier lifestyle, called America's "Picture of Health." In addition to introducing this new column, Prevention's March issue is also a record-breaker. The issue saw advertising pages and revenue rise by 31 percent and 27 percent, respectively -- making it one of the top five March issues in Prevention's 60-year history. Beginning with the March 2010 issue, Prevention magazine readers will receive expert medical advice from the show's medical dream team -- E.R. physician Dr. Travis Stork, OB/GYN Lisa Masterson, plastic and reconstructive surgeon Dr. Drew Ordon and pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears. Since September 2009, the multi-tiered, integrated partnership between Prevention magazine and "The Doctors" has also featured multiple guest appearances on the show by Vaccariello and a comprehensive online promotional program. The March issue, which features celebrity Marg Helgenberger on the cover, hits newsstands today. "Ask the Doctors" will serve as a one-page "house call" for Prevention readers' most pressing health questions. Real reader questions are answered by "The Doctors" in traditional Q&A format, "One-Word Answer," and advice is also given on how to "Live Like a Doc!" The column will also include tune-in details for upcoming episodes featuring Prevention. Vaccariello appears monthly on "The Doctors" as a "5th chair" guest host and in regular "Prevention Magazine Health Hearsay" spots, which air every few weeks. Her next guest host appearance on "The Doctors" is on Fri., Feb. 5th. Last month, Prevention and "The Doctors" jointly kicked-off a nationwide search for America's "Picture of Health" -- an individual who has an inspirational story of health, one who motivates others to adopt a healthier lifestyle and/or one who has overcome a significant obstacle to achieve strength, health and overall happiness. Voting for finalists will run from April 1 - 15 at www.prevention.com/pictureofhealth. The "Picture of Health" winner will appear in the pages of Prevention magazine, on an episode of "The Doctors," and win $5,000 for themselves and another $5,000 donation for the charitable organization of their choice.
