Photographer Irving Penn Dies At 92

Irving Penn, an American photography icon known for his photographs of fashion and celebrities, died yesterday in New York at age 92.

Although Penn was best known for his work in Vogue, another Conde Nast magazine, The New Yorker published a portfolio of his work five years ago, which deserves another look today as we remember his talent and contribution to the field of fashion photography.

If more magazines continue to close, the art that Penn helped create might become a dying one.
